Rafting is an inflate boat, 8 persons plus the guide can fit inside. All the time the guide will be with you and he will give you all the instruction to go down with success all the rapids of the Gorges du Verdon. You just have to listen the guide and enjoy the trip !

The Family rafting tour is an easy trip, it lasts 1h30. It's not very hard, we have to run 1 big drop, but the guide will succeed to do it !
If you are a family with children aged for 7 and over, it's perfect !

We offer two tours. The departure can be at Castellane (May, June, September) or at the bridge of Taloire (all the time).

RAFTING
The Legendary Rafting is a descent that lasts between two and a half and three hours. We will go through some of the most exciting rapids in a unique setting.
​
The departure takes place before the rapid called ''la Barre St. Jean.'' The journey is around 13 km and ends at the rapid “Solitaire,” the last rapid before the entry to the grand canyon of the Verdon.

Where can you do rafting
in the Gorges du Verdon ?
According to the time of the year and the level water, we have 2 places to start our rafing tour in the Gorges du Verdon. We call Gorges du Verdon all the sectio between Castellane until the Point Sublime, it's a total of 22 kilometers of wild water. The grade of the river is 1 until 4, most of the time, you will ride rapids grade 2, 3.
The part of the river who starts at the Point Sublime and goes until the lake of Sainte Croix is called "canyon du Verdon". You can not do it with a raft because the river is too narrow and the rapids to dangerous. When the dam is closed, the flow is really quiet and we can discover the Canyon du Verdon during the floating activity. You can also explore another part with during the packrafting trip (unique on this place)
Meeting place for the rafting session during July and August
Secret River gives you the opportunity to discover the Gorges du Verdon from an unique way. We don't kile when it's crowed, it's why during July and August, we start all our rafting trip in the place called Pont de Taloire, it is located on road of the Gorges, 8 kilometers downstream the village of Castellane. This place is at 45 min from the lake of Sainte Croix, and there are few companies who start here, so it's more quiet !
Meeting place for the rafting session before and after the high season (July, August)
According to your expectation, we can start from the village of Castellane, we start on the place close to the swimming pool of Castellane. The trip is a discovery trip.
When can you do rafting
in the Gorges du Verdon ?
On the Verdon river, we have a dam. When the dam is open,we can do rafting, kayaking and packrafting in the Gorges du Verdon and inside the Canyon du Verdon (only for the packrafting). When the dam is closed, the flow of the river is not enough strong for the rafting, so we can go for floating inside the Canyon.

When can we ride the Verdon during July and August ?
In July and August, it's easy to plan your vacation. The dam is open all the tuesday and the friday, so it's mean that you can do rafting these two days. Most of the time, we got a dam release between 10 to 15 cubic meter.
All the others days of the week, you can do the floating tour.

When can we ride the Verdon from September to June ?
During all the year (except July and August), it's not easy to plan a rafting trip ! The owner of the dam informs us the day before about the opening or not of the dam. Even if the dam is close, you can do another activity (floating), so don't worry, you can discover this area from many ways !
